AvaTrade to Acquire Majority of FXCM Business

AvaTrade has agreed to acquire the majority of FXCM Group’s business and brand, marking a significant development in the global forex and CFD trading industry. The deal is expected to strengthen AvaTrade’s international presence and expand its position as a multi-asset trading provider.

Founded in 1999, FXCM is one of the established names in retail forex trading, with a long-standing international client base. AvaTrade, founded in 2006, aims to combine FXCM’s market presence with its own trading technology, advanced platforms and AI-powered tools.

According to AvaTrade CEO Daire Ferguson, the acquisition supports the company’s strategy to expand globally, diversify its product offering and continue investing in technology and innovation. The broker offers access to multiple markets, including forex, commodities, indices, stocks and cryptocurrency-related products.

The transaction could create new opportunities for AvaTrade to expand its customer base and strengthen its competitive position. However, the companies have not yet publicly detailed all the assets included in the acquisition or the full transition arrangements for affected FXCM clients.

The agreement represents another notable development in the consolidation of the online trading industry, where brokers are increasingly investing in technology, broader market access and international expansion.
